Landscape view of Riviera di Chiaia in Naples. View captured facing west from the gates of the Villa Reale. Devoid of figures. In the foreground is the street, with tall buildings as its central focus of composition. The street continues down the right of the plate towards the end of the street. The house on the far left of the image is the British embassy. The label on the recto of the frame details the ownership of all of the houses pictured. 'The next is Lady Strachan's, the small archway is a chapel belonging to S. Pasquale, next to it is the Vico Freddo, and then No 233. Proceeding along the street there is a dark house with columns before the door, the light house next is the Bellevue hotel, and the dark house is next behind that W. O'Reilly's'.
