| Herbert Strässer Foto-Grafik [Multiple exposure] 1954 (ca) Gelatin silver print, ferrotyped 40 x 30 cm Bassenge Photography Auctions Auction 104, 3 December 2014, 19th - 21st Century Photography, Lot: 4299 LL/56139 From 1947 - 1952 Herbert Strässer attended the State Art School in Saarbrücken where he studied under Hannes Neuner. From 1952 - 54 he attended the ècole nationale supérieure de beaux-arts de Paris. Strässer was a pupil of Otto Steinert under who he studied experimental photography between 1954 - 55. In 1955 Steinert commissioned him with the design of the dust jacket cover for the book "subjektive fotografie 2". The influence of Fotoform and its more abstract approach to photography clearly influenced Strässer's work. He also designed many advertising posters and produced a large body of drawings and graphic works. Later Strässer turned more to sculpture and supplied the designs for several European Awards.
