Photograph of men gathered around the memorial to commemorate the death of Napoléon, Prince Imperial of the French. There is a stone memorial cross with a pile of stones laid out in front of it. British soldiers in uniform are standing on the grassy banks to either side. A large group of Zulu men are standing behind, raising their right arms in the air. There are hills in the distance. Napoléon, Prince Imperial of the French served with the British army during the Anglo-Zulu War. He was killed in a skirmish with Zulu fighters in June 1879. Shortly afterwards his godmother Queen Victoria ordered a memorial to be built on the site of his death.
