LL/74379

On verso edging: 'Niagara photographed by Hugh Lee Pattinson F.R.S'. Then 'View taken probably between 1843 + 1845'. Also label 'Daguerreotype of Niagara taken by Hugh Lee Pattinson FRS in or near the year 1843 Presented to the R. Photographic Society by J. W. Swan FRS Mar 1909.'

Though labels state 1843-1845, this was most likely taken by Pattinson in 1840 and is thus one of the first ever images of Horseshoe Falls, Niagara Falls, and therefore of Canada.
