Titled on the mount "Vistas Mexicanas / Jacal en Tierra Calliente / Estado de Vera-Cruz".
From the land of the sombrero comes this period view of a traditional thatch hut ("Jacal") and agricultural laborers. Briquet, an émigré Frenchman, came to Mexico on a photographic commission and thereafter took up residence, producing extensive series of local views.
