Photograph of a group of people standing alongside two tall poles on which are placed wooden figures. Three figures that are 'dressed' or wearing clothes are placed on the pole on the far left, the upper most figure holding a captives head. The pole on the right includes two figures with the figure at the top wearing a top hat. In the foreground is a wooden frame on which berries were dried. In the background are wooden buildings with the Chief's house on the right featuring a wooden portcullis at the door.

Poles such as the ones seen in the photograph fell into one of a number of types. These included, memorial poles, house posts, house front, grave or welcoming posts. They were skillfully carved and many were painted in red, black, white and yellow.
