Photograph of Scots Guards disembarking a ship at the quayside in Alexandria. There are rows of uniformed soldiers standing in front of the ship, all holding rifles. There is a man wearing civilian clothes walking alongside them and an officer standing alone further down the quay. The Anglo-Egyptian War of 1882 repressed the nationalist ‘Urabi Revolt and led to increased British control of Egypt. The war began with the British bombarding Alexandria.
