Notes: based on a daguerreotype ca 1839 by Pierre-Gustave Joly de Lotbinière and engraved by Himely for the publication Panorama d'Egypte et de Nubie (1841). Joly de Lotbiniere, a Canadian of Swiss origin, was one of the first people to travel abroad with a daguerreotype camera shortly after the process was announced.
