The ceremonial hall has a vaulted ceiling and a tiled floor. There are ornately carved arches with floral motifs around the parameter of the room. A marble column dominates the centre of the foreground.
This is one of a series of photographs from a published volume documenting the tour the Prince of Wales, later King Edward VII, made of India in 1875-76. Lord Napier of Magdala and the army of Delhi hosted a ball for the Prince in the Dewan-i-Khas on the evening of the 12th January 1876.
