In the early 1920s Georgi Selma studied camera technique at the film studio Proletkino and became an apprentice at Russfoto. From 1924 - 1947 he was a photographer for Russfoto in Moscow and Taschkent. As of 1928 he began using a Leica camera. From 1936 - 1945 he was part of the Red Army photography staff and a photojournalist for the magazine Iswestija. The photo offered here is a rare early image by Selma and shows the performance of an agitprop group in Taschkent, Soviet Russia. The slogans on the banners are in the Usbek and Russian language stating: "Greetings to the Workers".
