Set in the 1940s Leon "Bernzy" Bernstein, played by Joe Pesci, is a tabloid photographer in New York. The film has similarities to the life of Weegee as the fictional reporter uses a police radio in his car along with a darkroom in the trunk. The film also uses photographs that were taken by Weegee.
