Photograph of a full length group portrait of Prince Arthur, Princess Louise and Princess Helena, dressed as soldiers in a tableau of 'The Allies'. Prince Arthur, on the left, is dressed as an English soldier. Princess Louise, in the centre, appears to be dressed as a Vivandiere, a French term for a woman attached to a military regiment as sutlers or canteen-keepers. Princess Helena, on the right, is dressed as a French soldier. Behind the children is a landscape with distant sea and crescent moon. There is a rifle in the foreground, lying on the ground.

Two other variants of this group survive in the collection: an unpainted photograph (RCIN 2900066) and a copy of this work (RCIN 408954).
