Sir William de Wiveleslie Abney (1843 - 1920) was a civil servant and a photographic scientist.
 
Arthur James Melhuish was a photographer and printer, born in London. He was active as a photographer from 1860 to 1864. He invented the first roll holder for sensitised callotype paper in 1854, and the first metal-bodied camera in 1860.
