The fantastic label reads Griswold's Ferroetype Plates, Trade Mark, Patented Oct. 21, 1856 on one side. Above the words "Trade Mark" is an illustration of a scarab. The other side reads, Griswold's Ferrotype Plates, Patented Oct. 21 st, 1856. Written on each end is 8 Doz. Sixth, Egg Shell. There are 26 blank plates still inside. The box is in two halves as intended; however, the top of the box is gone. We assume it was opened this way to make for easier access.
