Hand-coloured photograph of a full length portrait of Prince Arthur, later Duke of Connaught (1850-1942) standing, facing slightly to the left. He turns his head to face the camera and poses with his right arm over a chair. He wears the costume of the sons of King Henry IV (in the play of Richard II) which he wore at the Bal Costume.
