The following information has been kindly provided by Ute Schruhl-Orth (31 Jan 2009, pers.comm)

"Adalbert Friedrich Carl Athen was my great grandfather, born on 29 August.1872 in Hamburg and he died there on 1 October 1962. He was businessman involved in import and export and an ornithologist in his spare time and wrote several books. I didn't know that he took this photo. I first saw it as an old family photo and later in the church of Lensahn in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. It shows his uncle on his mother's side Hermann Wilhelm Johannes Meyer, born 9 May 1850 Neuende (now Wilhelmshaven), died 1935 in Lensahn. He was the priest at Lensahn from 1882 until his retirement in 1919. The chair in the photograph is still with the family and my mother has it."
