1868 or 1869 - Grand Rapids: photographer Henry W. Boozer created one of the most unusual carté de visités in Michigan history. On the back of a 2 1/2 inch wide by 4 inch long card, Boozer promoted his Excelsior Photographic Art Place in Phoenix Hall with the most words and smallest text on any CdV of the period. In 1877 Henry turned from photography to art and began painting portraits, or touching up large photos. During his 1860 to 1877 career, he sold picture frames and albums, business cards, and all manner of photographic supplies. The reverse-side photo of this CdV is in comments below.
