Their first day saw twenty six people from Pennsylvania, Maryland and Virginia sit for their portraits, including noted deaf lithographer Albert Newsam. AAS holds two volumes of registers, for Simons & Collins 1845-1849, and the later firm of D.C. Collins & Co. in Philadelphia, 1849-1854.
