The Photograph and the American Dream 1840-1940, 78.

Hoover Dam was constructed during the Great Depression. In order to visually document the project, the Bureau of Reclamation assigned Glaha to photograph all aspects of the dam's construction. The images were used to demonstrate that the dam was structurally sound and government funds were being used wisely. Prints in this large format are unusually rare.
