The Colt Manufacturing Company (formerly Colt's Patent Firearms Manufacturing Company) was founded in 1847. After decades of improvements and various models, a new pistol was introduced in 1873, which utilized ammunition more effectively. This gun was dubbed the "Peacemaker" and was often referred to as "the gun that won the West."
