Curatorial description (Accessed: 30 October 2014)

Here Saint Margaret is depicted as a young girl with a flower in her hand. Idealised religious and allegorical studies had been a popular theme with art photographers during the 1850s and 1860s. Pictorialist photographers revived the theme in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.
