Photograph of the Taj Mahal. The building is in the Mughal architectural style and has a series of arched recesses and a large central dome surrounded by four smaller domes. There is a minaret at each corner of a low surrounding wall. A smaller building with a similar design can be seen behind. The river in the foreground has a narrow shore and a small stone dock with steps leading into the river.

This is one of a series of photographs from a published volume documenting the tour the Prince of Wales, later King Edward VII, made of India in 1875-76. Included in the volume are a number of photographs of notable sites visited by the Prince.
