This is possibly a model of a bridge girder or truss bridge designed by inventor Joseph Davenport of Massillon. Davenport, owner of the Massillon Bridge Company, actively submitted and received patents for a number of bridge improvements in the late 1860s, about the time this photograph was made. This print may have been commissioned as part of the patent application process.
