One apparatus seems to illustrate an object revolving around a larger one, driven by a hand crank. Earth and moon? A vacuum pump on the ground. Heavy text book beneath the machine on the table. Fortunately, all is made clear in the large sign in the center of the image. Unfortunately, it is over exposed and faded to the point that it can't be read.
