N.E. Sisson's Daguerreotype Establishment
1852 (ca)
National Gallery of Canada, The Origins of Photography: The Matthew R. Isenburg and Enhanced Isenburg Collections 1840-1880
This design is on an invoice issued on April 10, 1852 for N.E. Sisson, No. 496 Broadway, Albany, N.Y.
The publicity lines tell us that the company is an "Importer of French Plates, Manufacturer of Daguerreotype Cases and Chemicals, and Dealer in Daguerrotype Goods of every description, Wholesale and Retail.
The list of the items purchased is also significant as it is everything that a photographer would need to go into business.
The pricing is given using Spanish system of Bits with eight bits to the dollar.
