Photograph of the doorway of the Mahadeva Temple at Kothali, Buldana District, Berar, taken by Robert Gill in 1871. The location is given as 'Jaypur Kotli' in Bloch's list. In the note he wrote at that time to accompany his photographs, Gill said, 'At Jeypur Koatlee, 14 miles north of Buldana, are two old temples...The entrance door is only five feet one inch high, and two feet by six inches wide; but as may be seen in the photograph, it is most profusely ornamented with sculpture both on the architrave round it and on the frieze above...'. This photograph shows this entrance door to the shrine, with five figures carved on each side, including Vishnu at the centre and a Ganesh figure at the centre of the lintel above the door.
