Curatorial description (Accessed: 30 July 2019)
Photograph of St Isaac's Cathedral in St Petersburg viewed from the right. The cathedral is in the neoclassical style with a large dome and a porch with a central pediment. In the foreground to the right there is a column topped with a statue of an angel. A large neoclassical building can be seen behind the cathedral to the left. This photograph is from an album of handwritten and printed documents and photographs collected by Captain Oliver Montagu during the 1874 visit to Russia by the Prince and Princess of Wales, later King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra. They had travelled to Russia to attend the wedding of Prince Alfred, Duke of Edinburgh and Saxe-Coburg & Gotha to Grand Duchess Maria Alexandrovna, the daughter of Alexander II.
