Born in Germany, Korth emigrated to Chicago in 1926 and studied photography. By the 1930s, his images were exhibited in photographic salons in America and abroad. In 1932 he opened his own studio in Chicago and worked with major publications such as National Geographic, Fortune, Newsweek, Popular Mechanics, which highlighted the American fascination for the machine age, and Look. Korth photographed the 1933 World's Fair in Chicago and also worked as an advertising photographer for large American industrial companies.
