In 1955 Herbert Strässer was commissioned by Otto Steinert to design the cover of the book "Subjektive Fotografie 2" which was made up of photographs exhibited in the exhibition of the same name shown November 1954 - January 1955 in Saarbrücken. The three designs by Strässer offered here were considered but ultimately Steinert decided to use a photograph on the front dustjacket cover for which Strässer also supplied the design.
