(Tom Reitz, 30 September 2020) One of my favourite Christmas-themed real photo postcards are these shop windows and entrance. The photo was taken sometime during the Christmas season, between 1905 to 1907, at the Putnam & Co. Elm Corner Market at Main and Water Streets in Haverhill, Massachusetts - just north of Boston. The Market's windows are hung with poultry for Christmas and New Year's dinners. The Market went out of business in 1910 - selling all stock and fixtures at auction. If you're puzzled by this image and how I know it's the Christmas season, look VERY closely at the goose standing in the doorway! Happy New Year!
