Photograph of the site where Napoléon, Prince Imperial of the French died in Zululand. The site consists of moorland with several small circles of stones in the foreground. There is a small wooden plaque on a mound to the left. Napoléon, Prince Imperial of the French served with the British army during the Anglo-Zulu War. He was killed in a skirmish with Zulu fighters in June 1879. Shortly after this photograph was taken his godmother Queen Victoria ordered a memorial cross to be erected on the site of his death.
