| William Augur Tomlinson Portrait of a gentleman n.d. Ambrotype, 1/4 plate Larry Gottheim, Be-hold, Inc Courtesy of Larry Gottheim - Be-Hold (47 / 51) LL/11342 William Augur Tomlinson operated in various locations. He was in NYC in 1856-57. He purchased the rights to the Cutting Patent for the NYC area. It was only one way of presented the ambrotype putting two pieces of glass together with the emulsion on the inside but since it was patented, ambrotypists were supposed get authorization to use the process.
This is an excellent example of the presentation that allows the ambrotype to be viewed from the front and from the back (supposed to have originated with Brady.)
