| George Huebner Frederick “Irvine" Lees 1906, December (handwritten on back) Carte de visite Private collection of Michael Loudon LL/60397 Frederick “Irvine" Lees (1875-1902) . Information provided by a relative (Michael Loudon, email to Alan Griffiths, 20 July 2015).
The subject is Frederick “Irvine" Lees b1875, who is/was a great uncle of mine.
He went out to Manaus, Amazonas State, Brazil, to make his fortune in the (actually declining) rubber trade. I was always told he died in 1902 (he is certainly buried in Manaus) from Blackwater Fever. He may well have died from that disease, in Manaus, but he was alive and well enough to send this card home in December 1906.
