Linton was a Newhaven fishwife who appeared in several of Hill & Adamson's photographs. She is also depicted in HA764. This photograph was taken at the nearby fishing village of Newhaven, which provided ample subject matter for Hill & Adamson. Their un-published volume on this series has recently been brilliantly re-created by Stevenson.
