This image shows Schocken's first department store during the Nazi boycott of Jewish businesses. Schocken KG was especially known for its very modern department stores designed by E. Mendelsohn (Nuremberg 1926, Stuttgart 1928, Chemnitz 1930). The complete Aryanization of the Schocken group was implemented late 1938. Original photo documents showing Nazi boycotts of Jewish businesses are very rare as photographers were often intimidated when trying to document them.
