Photograph of the Memorial Well, Cawnpore. A high Gothic wall surrounds the well. In the foreground there is a large area of grass with several small trees. A small group of Indian men are sitting under the tree to the right. The Memorial Church is visible in the distance.

This is one of a series of photographs from a published volume documenting the tour the Prince of Wales, later King Edward VII, made of India in 1875-76. This memorial marked the site of the Siege of Cawnpore. Following Indian Independance the memorial was moved to the grounds of the nearby Memorial Church.

Presented to Alexandra, Princess of Wales by her husband the Prince of Wales at Christmas 1876
