This cloud study is one of many dramatic scenes that Ponting composed, as he attempted to capture the natural beauty of the vast Antarctic landscape. Ponting printed this image onto orange paper in an attempt to recreate the colours that he experienced. A version of this image was also printed onto blue paper.
