(Barry Wick, 6 September 2021) The Devil’s Shingle – workers at Mt. Washington would take the Cog Railway to the top and then at the end of the day they would ride the Devil’s Shingle at speeds up to 60 mph down to the bottom. The Devil’s shingle road on top of the center cog and had a friction brake to slow down.
