| Unidentified photographer (British medical officer) Furnes military hospital in Antwerp 1914, September Stereoview Private collection of Ralph Reiley LL/109427 (Ralph Reiley, 16 April 2021) A photo from a group taken by a British medical officer serving at the Furnes military hospital in Antwerp, Sept. 1914. The hospital at Furnes was short lived, as the Germans were steadily advancing west. The British intended to make a stand at Antwerp to keep if from falling to the Germans, but the city was abandoned as the Germans actually bypassed Antwerp and headed south into France. This is Photo #29 of a group of 32, The images are each 2 1/8x2 3/8, the mount is cardstock 6 3/4x3 3/8, looks to be home made mounts. These are most likely one of a kind views, sadly most are not in sharp focus.
