Hutton is standing to the right holding the horse's reins. Wilkin is standing to the left by the wheel of the cart. Both are wearing military uniform and carrying a rifle. The cart is marked '17TH COY R.E'. Two men are standing on the veranda of the building behind. Anglo-Egyptian War of 1882 repressed the nationalist ‘Urabi Revolt and led to increased British control of Egypt.
