| Frederick Hollyer Portrait Studien [Die Kunst in der Photographie (Art Folio #6)] 1897 Photogravure-Chine-collé 15.7 x 11.0 cm Photoseed Photograph courtesy PhotoSeed.com LL/15682 Heliographed (Plate) & Printed by: Meisenbach, Riffarth & Co. (Berlin)
Listed as J. Hollyer (sic) on index page and I. Hollyer on plate (sic)
Following a request for the identity of the sitter Peter Walker (http://www.hollyer.name) has kindly provided the following:
"I have assisted the National Portrait Gallery identify photographs taken by Frederick Hollyer in a family album. My conclusion would be that this gentleman is Fred's son, Frederick Thomas Hollyer."
Compare with the photo of F.T. Hollyer on the NPG site.
Additionally this photogravure has been transposed left to right and is published elsewhere in the correct format. Peter Walker has pointed out that the buttoning on the coat in this version is right over left - the women's style - indicating the transposition error.
