Landscape view of Venice, general view taken from a position in the Grand Canal near the Dogana del Mare. The buildings in order from left to right are: the back of the Procuratie Vecchie, now Palazzo Reale, with the gardens & wall in front, & the bell tower of S. Mark behind, the Domes of the Basilica di S. Marco, the Zecca or Mint, the Biblioteca or Library, the Column of St. Theodoric & that of the Lion, the Palazzo Ducale, the Ponte di Paglia & the Prisons. Water in the foreground, the canal wall with stone balustrade on it, mooring posts in the canal, garden and buildings behind, gondolas on the right tied up against the quayside.
