Maia Sutnik, the Sudek specialist, who corrected the title and date, provided the following information about this photograph: "Sudek's good friend, Dr. Petr Helbich, took him to the Beskid Mountain region. There Sudek became fascinated by the natural wilderness and the untamed growth of the landcape, making photographic explorations with Helbich on several visits. Near Jablunkov, Sudek discovered the Mionsi Forest. There he photographed both its dense bush and fields of deteriorating trees, where he later referred to as "vanished statues." The photographs Sudek made in this region formed a comprehensive basis for his last book, Janacek-Hukvaldy (1971). "
