Side view of the main facade of the Auberge de Castile with two guards standing on the steps leading to the entrance. The imposing Baroque building was formerly the official seat of the Knights of St John from the Langue of Castille, León and Portugal. The auberges were buildings offering hospitality to knights who did not have a residence of their own in Malta. The building was also used as headquarters by the French forces and, subsequently, by the British army. In 1972, it became the Office of the Prime Minister of Malta. The building on the left-hand side is the church of Our Lady of Victories and it is considered the oldest building in Valletta.
