Composite photograph of Queen Victoria (1819-1901) who is seated on the left in a green chair wearing the Order of the Garter and a long lace head dress and, on the right, an Indian man (royal house of Benares?) who presents a large book or album to the Queen. He wears gold embroidered robes and a plumed turban.

The photograph appears to have been made with at least three different negatives - The Queen, the presenter holding the book, and the background. The work has then been re-photographed to create a new negative, and the resulting print has been overpainted. The photograph may not have originally been part of the photograph album into which it is now inserted.
