Photograph of Petty Officer ’Taff’ Evans (1876-1912) standing in full length in front of packing cases. He wears a sou'wester and fur lined gloves. Evans was, along with Wilson, a veteran of Scott’s Discovery expedition. He was valued by Scott for his resourcefulness and strength. On the final trek to the Pole, he was responsible for the equipment, including the tents, sleeping-bags and sledges. Evans died at the foot of the Beardmore Glacier, having reached the South Pole with Scott and his companions.
