Photograph of the Maharaja of Benares. He is sitting with his right arm resting on the table beside him and his right foot resting on a cushion on the ground. He is wearing a long patterned robe and a small turban and has a medal around his neck. He is holding a large curved sword in his left hand.
 
This is one of a series of photographs from a published volume documenting the tour the Prince of Wales, later King Edward VII, made of India in 1875-76.
