Workers who belong to a Trade Union and worked at GCHQ in the UK were sacked by the Conservative government of Margaret Thatcher. The law preventing trade unions came into effect at the end of March 1984 and a small group was fired when the Labour Party came to power following the elections of 1997 the ban was reversed. Margaret Thatcher was Prime Minister from 1979-1990 and this card dates to that period.
