Carte de visite
Private collection of Fr. Gregor

This carte de visite is a good example of the global nature of the photographic business in the nineteenth century. A portrait of an American President made in London and sold in Prague in Friedrich Ehrlich´s bookstore. There's a notice about the price on the backside in upper left corner – 90x it means 90 Kreuzer. As the usual price for a dozen CDVs in late 1860s in Prague was 3-4 Gulden this CDV was quite expensive.
