They are arranged in a group with most standing beside their horse. Five men are lying on the ground facing partly left. Private Clifford, lying in the middle, is looking through binoculars and the men to either side are pointing rifles. All are wearing military uniform. There is a building behind with three large windows with wooden shutters. The Anglo-Egyptian War of 1882 repressed the nationalist ‘Urabi Revolt and led to increased British control of Egypt. This photograph was taken in Cairo.
